‘Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia’

On the eve of the Nauryz holiday, 20.03.2025, within the framework of the ‘Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia’ (AELTLCA) International project of the British Council, the Project Director, Dr. Larry, a representative of Lincoln University (Lincoln, UK), visited Baishev University.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the University’s management, teachers and students of the “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” educational program , as well as the English Club students.

Dr. Larry spoke about the participation of students and teachers from three universities of Central Asian countries (Baishev University, L. Gumilyov European National University /Kazakhstan/ and Abu-Rayhan Beruni Urgench State University /Uzbekistan/) in the project, and, in particular, about two international conferences on the project – in Astana and Urgench in March. He asked to share their impressions of the project and the participation in the conferences of the Project permanent participants as well. The English Club participants told the guest about their activities in this community and about their plans for the future.

The attended students and teachers of Baishev University asked the guest many questions: is it important to know and study English, is the profession of an English teacher really important, what are the modern technologies for studying foreign languages, should young men get a profession and become teachers, will the partnership of Baishev University with foreign universities continue. There was also an exchange of opinions in English. The meeting was held on a high wave: everyone was interested in exchanging opinions, in receiving new ideas for studying and communicating in English.
