On April 18, 2025, the international scientific competition «Modern Onomastics: Realities and Development Trends» was held in the conference hall of Baishev University, bringing together students and young researchers interested in studying onomastics, an essential element of the linguistic and cultural picture of the world.
The competition was organized by the Faculty of educational programs in the direction of training “Teacher training in languages and literature”, “Teacher training in languages and Literature” of the Higher School of Natural Sciences and Humanities.
The purpose of the event is to develop interest in onomastic research, support the scientific initiative of young researchers, exchange experiences, develop a culture of scientific discussion and presentation of research results.
The competition was attended by students of Samara State Socio-Pedagogical University, Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after A. Margulan, Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, Baishev University.
The participants presented works on anthroponymy, toponymy, regional and historical-cultural aspects of naming. The contest entries were distinguished by the originality of their subject matter, the depth of their analysis, and the relevance of their conclusions.
According to the results of the evaluation of the jury, which included leading experts in the field of linguistics, the winners were determined. All participants received certificates, and the authors of the best projects received diplomas. The scientific competition on onomastics has become a platform for intellectual growth, interuniversity cooperation and the formation of a research culture among students, confirming the high interest of young people in linguistic research and its importance for science and society.
