Internationalization: quality assessment and approaches

On February 29 and March 1, 2024, the British Council in Kazakhstan organized a two-day forum on “Internationalization: Quality Assessment and Approaches”. At the plenary session of the forum the British Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ms. Kathy Leach, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulzat Kobenova and Adilet Toibaev, Director of Education of the British Council Maddalaine Ansell and Director of the British Council in Kazakhstan Robert Taylor made a welcoming speech. During the forum, experts from universities in Kazakhstan and the UK discussed the implementation of the internationalization strategy in Kazakhstan, the results of InterLinks grants, the successes achieved by the partnership and the challenges they face.

In addition, within the framework of the Forum, experts from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of Great Britain (QAA) – Piers Wall and Shannon Stowers – conducted a workshop on assessment and quality assurance of transnational education on practical examples of partnership between Great Britain and Kazakhstan.

At the forum Baishev University was represented by Zhanat Erniyazova, Director of International Relations Department, coordinator of Going Global Partnerships program from the university.

Recall that in 2022 the partnership formed by Baishev University and the University of Lincoln (Lincoln, UK) received an InterLinks grant, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the universities, and a number of joint activities on the development of transnational education were carried out.
