On November 15, 2023, Waldemar Manyukevich, PhD Professor at the Lodz Technical University (Poland), held a scientific seminar for young scientists at Baishev University on the topic “Culture and ethics of scientific publications of young scientists”. During the seminar, the moderator noted that the legal basis for ensuring publication ethics is international standards: the provisions adopted at the 2nd World Conference on the Integrity of Scientific Research (Singapore, July 22-24, 2010), the provisions developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (The Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE). The professor explained that violations of copyright and moral norms are not unacceptable from an ethical point of view and serve as an obstacle to the development of scientific knowledge, undermining the authority of science.
The ethics of publication establishes norms, principles and standards of ethical behavior of authors, measures to identify conflicts of interest, unethical behavior, instructions for withdrawal (retraction), correction and refutation of the article. The participants asked questions about the article and exchanged opinions on the topic of the seminar.
It was with great pleasure that we attended a scientific seminar for young scientists of Baishev University on the topic “Culture and ethics of scientific publications of young scientists”, lecturer-PhD professor of Lodz Technical University (Poland) Waldemar Manyukevich.
Within the framework of this seminar, information was provided on the innovative methodology of writing a scientific article and on the main difficulties that can be encountered when writing.
Among the issues discussed at the seminar, the following topics were touched upon:
- requirements for articles to be published in journals;
- the structure of the scientific article;
- The publishing process;
- ethics of publication.
The topic of the seminar was fully disclosed from all sides. The theoretical material is supported by numerous practical examples, a convenient and understandable form of presentation of the material, provided with high-quality handouts. Many practical tips, acquired and available knowledge were presented.
